Importing a dwg or dxf can slow your programme down considerably depending on the number of entities imported.
The xref command is a simple and sometimes quicker alternative.
When using the xref command the content of the drawing cannot be editing when on the page.
But it can be used to trace over architectural floor plans etc…
To use the command go to the drawing and annotation tab at the top of the page as shown below:
When you have clicked the command this screen will show:
Here you have to select the file you want and press ‘open’.
When you have selected your file and opened it up, this screen will show:
Here you can alter the image you have selected by doing such things as:
- Switching layers on/off
- Scale the image
- Measure parts of the image
- Set the image origin
- Mono – which changes all the colours to the selected colour
Once you have finished editing the image, click insert.
When you have pressed insert you can place the image down wherever you want it.
If you want to go back and edit the image in the xref window then all you have to do is double click on the image you inserted.
Select the wall you wish to be removed and press the DEL (Delete) key on the keyboard.
